We loved Japan.  Livvy loved the fashion, Kira loved the food, both Rich and Carol loved the variety of things to do and the ease in which to do them.  We've put together our video log of our time in Japan. We hope it gives you get a sense of the love!
In Japan we found lots of instructions.  The danger of high heels!  Scary cats not allowed!  No sausage beyond this point!  We came to appreciate the fact that people actually follow the rules and the sense of order that brings. Though eventually with all those constraints in the city, we escaped to the ocean, where signs can't be posted.
Omikuji is a written fortune for the coming year.  They offer general advice for areas such as travel, business and health.  Today we went to the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura. We saw people buying these fortunes, washing hands with water from a sort of well, and writing prayers and wishes on wooden boards. If your omikuji tells of good fortune, you take it home, but if it does not, you tie it to a tree or these posts for extra blessings from the gods.

Origami on the Train

Kira's got the rest of the story about how these strangers on the train meet.
